Thunder Falls
in the Buffett Seneca-Niagara Casino
Niagara Falls, New York

Thunder Falls is Niagara Falls' dining gem.  Even if you don't gamble, stop in the casino to visit this restaurant.  For $15 (weekdays), you can pig out on the all-you-can-eat buffett that rivals the best in Vegas.  There's a section for Chinese, Italiaan, American, Salads, Seafood, Soups, and a meat carving station.  The dessert area is absolutely huge.  Excellent food all around the buffett and servers are on top of the cleanup and free soft drink refills.

Tip:  If you're there on weekends, you can get up early and check out their breakfast buffett.  They'll make an omlette for you just the way you like it.  They've got pancakes, waffles, french toast, fruit...the whole bit.

Even Better Tip: If you're really good at timing your itinerary, get there around 10 on weekends.  Why?  You can get the full breakfast buffett at 10:30, then they switch to lunchtime and you can sample the full lunch buffett as well.  It's the best of both!

Price:  $20 or $18 with Player's Card; Get the player's card even if you don't gamble-- it's free and you get a couple bucks off your meal.

What if I have kids?  Don't worry.  You do NOT need to walk through the gambling area to get into Thunder Falls Buffett.  People bring kids in all the time.

Hard Rock Cafe (Canadian Side of the Falls)
5701 Falls Ave.
Niagara Falls, Ontario
Canada L2E 6W7
Phone:  905-356-ROCK

As a New York native, it kills me to tell you to go to the Candian side, but if you're looking for the bigger and better Hard Rock Cafe, you'll have to cross over into foreign territory.

It's a well-themed Rock-and-Roll restaurant.  Obviouslly, you'll be paying more for the location and the atmosphere.

If you're a cheapskate like me:  Stop by and have a drink, get a t-shirt to prove you've been there, and then run off to someplace cheaper. :)

Skylon Tower

Even though it's a little pricey, but it's one of those unique-type-of-things you really should do if you're going to be in the falls.  The Skylon Tower is a landmark restaurant and observatory on the Canadian side of the falls.  If you're looking at the skyline, it's the building that looks like a spaceship.  You travel up the tower in a "yellow bug" (that's their name for the elevators) that will rocket you up 775 feet in the air.  At the top is a revolving dining room that gives you a 360 degree view of Niagara Falls.  The restaurant spins at one revolution per hour, so you should be able to see most everything over the course of your meal.

Did I mention they're pricey?  The minimum price is $26 per entree during lunchtime.  At dinner time, you'll have to fork over $40 or more.  But the food you're served is truly gourmet-- from baked snails with herbs and garlic butter to lobster tails to Frenched rack-of-lamb.

Tip:  Every seat has a great view, but they won't specifically reserve a seat right by the window.  Window seats are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Get there early if you would like to sit right by the glass.

If you're a cheapskate like me: Too cheap to buy dinner at the Skylon Tower?  No problem.  You can still go up to the top of the tower and see the city from the observatory.  It'll only set you back 12 bucks.
